Youth For Understanding (YFU) represents a global movement comprising devoted individuals and organizations united in their mission to equip young people with the skills and resilience needed to embrace their roles and confront the evolving demands of our interconnected global society. YFU’s national chapters are united by a shared vision for the future.
Today, YFU stands as one of the world’s most esteemed and enduring international educational exchange programs. Founded in 1951 as a non-profit, privately-funded organization, Youth For Understanding (YFU) is unwaveringly committed to fostering international comprehension and world peace through exchange initiatives tailored for high school students. As one of the world’s oldest and most extensive exchange programs, YFU has facilitated cultural immersion experiences for nearly 200,000 high school students with host families worldwide. These YFU students acquire the essential skills and perspectives necessary to navigate the challenges presented by a constantly evolving world, seizing the opportunities offered by our rapidly changing global community.
